Half pass

The half-pass is essentially a travers performed on the diagonal.

During the half-pass, the horse moves across the diagonal while maintained in lateral flexion, looking in the direction of travel.

The horse moves in a forward-and-sideways motion, with the hind legs alternately stepping toward the center of gravity.

The forehand always slightly precedes the hindquarters during the half-pass, allowing the hind legs to step correctly toward the center of gravity.appuyeren

Through the half-pass, the horse learns to carry itself even more on its own balance, as it now has absolutely no support from the wall.

The half-pass can be performed in walk, trot, and canter.
