lichamelijke problemen door verkeerde training paard

Physical problems caused by incorrect horse training

Physical problems that can occur due to incorrect horse training include:
    • Head tilting
    • Head shaking
    • Teeth grinding
    • Tongue lolling (or: tongue sticking out)
    • Tail swishing
    • Back problems
    • Kissing spines
    • Dull coat
    • Lumps on the back
    • Overloading the forehand
    • Irregularity (in gait)
    • Lameness
    • (Clinical navicular disease)
    • SI joint problems
    • Stifle problems
    • Hip problems
    • Bone spavin
    • Windgalls (or: windpuffs)

The problems listed above can also have other causes.
Ensure that the horse has access to:
    • Good quality feed
    • Adequate forage / roughage
    • Sufficient fresh air and sunlight
    • Free movement in a paddock or pasture
    • Contact with other horses
    • A well-fitting bridle/bit and saddle
    • Proper hoof trimming (farrier care)

Using a mounting block also prevents back problems.
If all of these matters are in order, and the veterinarian and other specialists have no explanation for the issues, the problems may be related to the horse’s natural asymmetry.
By straightening the horse (rectifying the asymmetry), these problems can be prevented.
